No. 783
DMT is a naturally occurring psychedelic which occurs in a large number of plants along with various concentrations of related substances (5-MeO-DMT, Bufotenin, DMT oxides, etc.). It is also likely secreted by the pineal gland in the human brain. It is broken down by MAO in the body, and is only orally active with an MAO Inhibitor - as in traditional shamanic brews like Ayahuasca - which results in a 4-6 hour long trip which, while less intense than smoked or injected DMT, is still much more intense than trips from most comparable drugs such as LSD and mushrooms (unless extreme doses are considered...perhaps).
However, when smoked or injected the DMT reaches the brain before it can be broken down by MAO. This results in an extremely powerful experience which lasts 5-15 minutes, with residual effects (in my experience a mild floaty feeling and mood lift). The trip itself varies between people, so I can only give my own take:
DMT is more like psylocybe mushrooms than LSD-like psychedelics, though so much more intense than either that it is hard to compare. I experience a powerful distortion of time and space, though not terribly definite; time is neither contracted nor dilated, but just processes differently. My entire field of vision becomes a kaleidoscopic "fractal" composed of the various objects in my room. These visuals coalesce into shapes and "spirits" or "gods", distinctly Mesoamerican in appearance (see Aztec/Mayan art). I am hit with a powerful sensation of "presence". I have trouble convincing myself that I am alone in the room, because all of the objects and even concepts are communicating with me, as well as the aforementioned "spirit" type entities. In some ways, it's like salvia, if salvia were much more powerful and much, much more pleasant.
That's as close to "all there is to know" as I can do for now, but I will answer any questions you might have.
