Good luck on that one, the version is pretty irrelevant if you are just making a bash, perl, or python script, you just have to make sure that they choose to install it, it makes things a little trickier, although some macs have sshd enabled on default, not sure the versions but you could prob install it via the guest account and root the box via an exploit. Have fun with that.

problem is that most Macs, even when logged in as the original (not quite root but close enough) user, it will still prompt for password with no "remember me" flag to set. so plan on writing your bash / perl / python with no root access... point with cocoa or ObjC is that you can install once (piggyback install onto something legit like some open-source shit or something), and you're golden.

Good point, I forgot about BSD being like that, it is a good safety measure, but the ultimate security flaw is the human element. I was just thinking that with coco you have to use the right version, but mac users keep up with system upgrades better then most users. It is kit and kaboodle with the whole mac mentality - got to get the new stuff always.
